Don't listen to Tomo, he doesn't know what he's talking about. ;)

I really like the Svengali deck. So versatile once you get used to the handling. I do a card at any number trick with this deck that is so simple and always goes down very well. Gaffed decks are not that expensive; you can probably get yourself a Svengali and a Stripper for about £10. Why not get both? That would be a good start, I reckon.

An ID is well worth getting, although this can be seen as a 'one-trick pony' it's a stunner if performed well and is useful as an out if you bu**er up.

The aforementioned Stripper and Svengali decks are versatile and well worth buying. There are books dedicated both and the authors frequent this forum.

I myself prefer the sven over the stripper. The Bicycle stock one I have came with a great routine by Daryl which you end clean with! I have adapted it to my own style and it gets a great response.

As I stated earlier, in the Encyclopedia of card tricks there are whole sections to the sven and strip and mene-tekel.
Alot of really nice looking tricks but im in over my head deciding which to go with.

Thanks for the pros and cons guys.

Ill probably go for a stripper and a sven and see which Im most comfortable with.

one "effect" pony but many many presentation possibilities make the I.D. my single favorite deck of cards.

That and John Kennedy's "Mind Power Deck".

Get a Mirage deck...........I use this sooo much when feeling lazy at a gig...its easy and has so much potential for doing easy effects that look devastating........

they're all valid, coming from the point of view that no one should suspect that you're using one...

my faves are:
mirage
invisible
stripper

if a brainwave was good enough for dunninger, it's good enough for me...

Yeah, ID; I forgot about that one. Definitely get yourself one of those. (Or make it yourself if you can be bothered). The ID has saved my bacon on more than one occasion - don't leave home without it!

The Mind Power Deck is pure genius when performed properly. Bit pricier than the other decks, mind. (£20-ish).
