Self Levitation Video - Magic By Post

Don't buy it it's not worth the money. Simple as that. In my opinion its just an attempt to make easy money from an old principle.

This was one of the first magic videos I bought, when I was young and naive and viewed David Blaine as the ultimate magician ever in the universe...ever!

Just for information's sake here's a review:

The video is split down into two parts;

Part 1) Learn how to levitate.

Yes, they do teach you how to levitate using the tried and tested Balducci Levitation. They give you some useful tips for presentation and performance but there is nothing contained here that you cannot learn from shrewd observation of any performance of this type of levitation.

Part 2) Learn how to build a simple gimmick to levitat higher.

The simple gimmick is unworkable and simply rubbish. If you used this gimmick it would have to be in VERY contrived circumstances and you probably wouldn't get away with it anyway.

Production

The production of the video is poor and looks like it has been shot on a home video camera and then roughly edited together using the stop and rewind buttons. Although the camera picks up the important parts of the method it is still nothing special.

Teaching

The one good part of this video would probably have to be the teaching. The two guys who are teaching you do cover everything and they are clear and to the point. The perfromance tips are useful and will probably save you a couple of seconds practise time.

Overall: 2/10
Price: I'm not going to tell you. If you're still interested in this PM me but to be honest I'd suggest any other levitation video, most Probably the King Rising from ellusionist.com

All the best,

Will Wood

:(
Yes i have had this problem with "magic by post". I can't say I've bought this video but other products i have bought have been ridiculously(sp!)horrible such as:
"magicians rope" - It really is horrible, more expensive than the good quality soft core rope you get from all reputable dealers and it was a muddy white colour ...and damp! It smelt horrible due to the dampness and was not suitable for any tricks.

"IT" - was nasty and knotted and put me of IT for a long time until i found some good stuff.

However the Fu-man-chu coin box i purchased was reasonably good and service is ok. I think most of the branded tricks they sell are good but the utility items/tutorials are cheap rip-offs of much better quality props.

a big thumbs down :(
