The Video:
Rene Lavand teaches and performs some of his most famous routines. The exciting part about Rene is that he has only 1 arm.
Cost:
$65.00 for 2 DVDs on llpub.com
Difficulty:
3-5
Overall:
5/10
While this is a good video, I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of originality by in Lavand's performances. While it is certainly very interesting to see these routines performed with only one hand, many of the effects are not quite as innovative as I had expected. Lavand is certainly an artist, and performs what he does very well, but there's nothing terribly new here. Another nitpick is the simultaneous translation. One of Lavand's trademarks is his poetic presentation and storyline which goes along with his routines. Sadly, much of this is lost when his translator tries to translate him into english on-the-fly.
Bottom Line:
If you're looking to work a one-handed effect or portion into your routine, this video will give you some valuable insights. If, however, you're looking for ways to improve your two-handed routine, I think you'll be somewhat disappointed.
