Color Divination Rods, Psychic Color Sticks - Mentalism

Postby KODs_righteye » Jun 9th, '04, 10:46

Color Divination Rods, Psychic Color Sticks, Transmental Gemsation - Viking

The Effect
The performer displays a solid Brass Tube, and several different colored aluminum rods. A spectator places any of the rods in the tube, closes it, and hands it over to the performer. The other rods are concealed by the spectator. The performer "feels the vibrations from the tube", and reveals the color of the rod in the tube. The apparatus can be examined, and the effect repeated as often as you like.

Similar to: Mystic Chips/SUPER SIGHT http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic2066.php
(this is a version of this trick but with dics...)

Cost
$7.99 - $39.99 (US Dollars) - Price varies greatly depending on what "version" you buy, and where you buy it.

Difficulty 2
1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review
Comes complete with instructions and a Royal Blue fabric carrying case with a zipper. Each of the 5 rods are made from solid aluminum and are anodized various colors. Each rod is Approximately 2 & 3/8" in length and 1/4" in diameter. The tube is made from solid Brass.

I bought mine for $21.00 a few years ago, and I love it. It's obviously a great mentalism effect. There is a bit of memorization required, but its well worth it. I always carry it with me in my pocket where ever I go. If your into mentalism I think you should definetly consider buying this trick. It's so portable, you can take it anywhere.

I'm not sure if all the versions use the same concept but the concept for the one I own, the Color Divination Rods, is easy to master.

I didn't bother with any links to retailers' sites because its not that hard to find. Just visit your favorite online magic store and type any of the three names in the sites search box.

Overall
This is a great effect for any occasion, entirely self working and requires no resetting.

I've noticed I haven't got any replies to this review, which I guess means nobody else owns it. I have to tell you this is a wounderful trick, and I'm interested if anyone else owns this particular trick or any variations. I am also in need of some help. If anyone has some good ideas on how I could go about revealing the spectators color, I would glady welcome suggestions, as I am getting bored of my old way of revealing the color. If you have any ideas please reply...

I think you will find that quite a few of us have used this trick. Personally I use a Die version

http://www.wandmagic.co.uk/content/mentalism/dieabolical.htm

and I agree it is a great little trick and I find there are many interesting ways of revealing a number.

One way that I use reguraly is to use it as a lie test. To prove how hard it is to lie to a trained eye. I do a little patter about how when you know someone really well there are often tell tale signs if they lie. Well to the trained eye it can be spotted even in a stranger. Look lets do a little experiment.

Get them to put the coloured rod in, or in my case the die. Then get them to slowly say which colour rod they have put in, after telling them they can lie or tell the truth. If you watch their eyes closely you can spot when they lie

Thanks for the excellent review.

You are right it is a great trick and therefore a little surprising that no one had commented on it.

I guess it's one of those effects that would go down very well as part of a mentalism routine, although if you already own something similar, such as the Mystic Chips (How I wish I hadn't sold mine!!) or Die CypherII etc. then you probably wouldn't need this as well.

Any thanks for writing th ereview in the first place, and please don't be put off writing more because of the lack of comments. It just goes like that sometines, but you can rest assured that a lot of people will read the review even if they don't comment.
