Magic Temple

Postby ste175 » Jun 9th, '04, 22:33

The Effect

Show a chinese temple and show that there is nothing inside with you hands or magic wand or whatever (a spectator can also check). You lift the lid and something appears (usually sponges) in the blink of an eye

Cost

$49.95, but I got mine from an emagictricks auction for less

Difficulty

1
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

What I love about this method of making things appear is that you can see inside the temple the whole time and the sponges seem to appear from nowhere in the blink of an eye. You can only really get it to work with sponges, but the response to this has been amazing, especially if you find some good/funny sponges (people are always suprised and amused to see my oversized sponge tooth appear from no where). You can always start with this trick and use the sponges for the next trick, or you can end with it - perhaps having ti on stage all show would be a good idea - it will increase people's curiosity.

Overall

A great way to make sponges appear, but not really useful for any other appearances. Also, the price might put you off - try getting it at auction or second hand

Score
7/10 - great to watch, but loses points as you can only produce sponges and the price is a bit steep

i made a bid on this one then checked out a vid and decided it was very similar to the lantern trick i sent to boywonder.
its a nice trick but a bit pricy for a one type production but it certainly looks cool.
