Thought Transmitter

Postby Tony Hyams » Jun 12th, '04, 01:33

Effect: You introduce a wallet to the spectator open it up and draw a box on the pad inside, you then ask the spectator to think of a name of someone close to them or any number then get them to write it down inside the box whilst you are turned away. When the spectator has done that you ask them to close the wallet and put it down you then pick it up and put it in you pocket. After this you can read there mind and write their name or number on your business card and give it to them as a souvenir

Thoughts: A very good trick nobody has even come close to working out how it’s done. The only fault I found is that you can’t do it in daylight but that’s the only flaw I can think of so I give it 9/10

I also found it to be an almost unexplainable item therefore highly suspicious.

I think Peter Nardi's Stealth Wallet is tonnes better.

I agree if your doing impromtu magic, but for table hopping or the like, there are no such problems.
So in an impromtu situation, yeah I'd go for the stealth or similar, but for table hopping the Thought Transmitter is the business. Also in regards to the unexplainable bit, I use it with "post it" notes and it looks for all the world like a little "post it" note holder.

Thought transmitter also has the advantage of being examinable ( within reason ) and has far cleaner handling.

you cant do it in daylight? Dont be daft. If anything, a darker enviroment could possibly tip the gaff.
Believe me i have even done it on a fully lit stage, and have had absolutly no trouble at all.

Performing TT in daylight

I too had trouble outdoors in bright sunlight - just couldn't proceed at all but heh - I'm at the stage where the occasional trick goes wrong anyway so no big deal. Next time I would make sure that it 'works' first before presenting the trick in bright light.
