10 Ways To Force A Card (DVD)

Postby SlipperyPenguin » Jun 23rd, '04, 11:40

The Effect.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The DVD explains and demonstrates 10 Ways to Force A card.

Or as the blurb puts it..

Are you sick of hearing "Use your favorite card force," in routines, and not knowing what to do? If you are, then Dex Poinjestra's 10 Ways to Force a Card DVD is definetly for you. You will no longer have to use the same tired effect or research a new force. Dex offers you 10 different card forces to choose from that will fit a multitude of routines.

The DVD covers the following forces.

Criss Cross Force
Hindu Shuffle Force
Cut Deeper Force
10 to 20 Force
Riffle Force
Countdown Force
Dribble Force
Peek Force
Slip Cut Force
Classic Force

Cost
---------------------------------------------------------------------
£7.99 from www.magictricks.co.uk

Difficulty
---------------------------------------------------------------------
0-5
(5 for the classic force I would think.. all the rest are fairly easy or self working)

Review
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it does exactly what it sayes on the tin. It demonstrates and explains the 10 forces fairly well in clear understandable english and with nice video clips to show anyone how to perform these.

For me though I think that most of these (especially the self workers) can be seen or learnt from other DVDs or books which offer more than just the forces mentioned here.

However, I got most benefit from seeing how the forces where carried out in terms of what to say when and from the tips on misdirection. Again these are only limited to the forces shown but as a beginner it was nice to see the force performed and these tips offered.

Overall
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have to say that for a beginner who doesn't own the RRTCM or one of the many Basic Technique DVDs or Videos and wants to learn a few more forces this is a pretty good DVD. But for anyone other than a beginner trying to learn a few more forces then this DVD would not really be that useful as most of them are pretty basic (ie. most are self workers or contain simple sleights) except perhaps for the classic force and hence would be of little use to anyone who has already investigated and learnt most of them.

I did get most from the misdirection tips (but these are not in great supply.. you have been warned) and it is nice to know that I was performing most of them correctly after reading the RRTCM.

Overall not bad, but only for those who can't get on with books or can't find out how to do these from any other source.

BEGINERS ONLY I'd say, but to be honest I'd probably recommend Kaufman's dvd or the RRTCM instead as they offer a lot more besides most of the forces included on this DVD.

Rating
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quality - 8/10
Value For Money - 5/10 (If you find it useful 8 quid is not a lot of money)

Hope this helps

That sounds a little expensive for only 10 forces, especially when you can get the booklet

"202 Methods of Forcing" for £3.50

(Thanks for the review though...)

Agreed. Only 10 forces - not a lot, methinks.

You're probably all right..

however.. as a visual type myself I did actually find it useful in places. I have the book but I found the DVD better although you're probably right.. you can learn a lot more forces from other cheaper sources.

For a beginner though (like me).. it could have it's uses.. although I'd probably recommend Kaufmann or the RRTCM instead to be perfectly honest.

wow sounds great. id really love to learn some new forces - iv always used the criss cross force. to good effect. but id love to learn some more. that take a little less misdirection maybe. i usually do the criss cross force. and reveal the card symbol on my arm. by rubbing ash on it. after theyve gripped it while focusing. and i say the connection burnt it inhehe. great with women {Please do not reveal methods in open forum. Thank you}paul (disappears in a puff of smoke...cough)

Hi

Learn two good forces and they will get you by.

I use only three forces in close-up and cabaret.

I dont believe its too expensive for the money if the forces explained were worth it. I personally was very desapointed with this DVD. Very very very basic.
