If you haven't already heard, Roy Horn (of Siegfried and Roy) has been badly mauled by one of his tigers.
Still in critical condition in hospital.
Apparently the tiger grabbed him by the throat and dragged him off stage.

Let's just hope he makes a full recovery.
The show will probably never re-open unfortunately.

Hmmm... not pleasant...!

Occupational hazzard, though?

Sadly, I assume that the creature will be terminated after this?

All we can say is,
Get Well Soon, Roy.

I don't think the tiger will be destroyed.
It's still legally a wild animal so there's requirement that it has to be tame.
It's in quarantine just now, but Roy harbours no ill feeling towards it.

Can't imagine he'd want it put down.

live by the sword die by the sword.

you cant prepare for every eventuality, even the very best of us can be over confident.

i wild animal is a wild animal, it should not be expected to go against its nature, as you have said roy knows this.

hope he gets well soon they are troopers inevery sense of the word.

get well soon roy.

Sadly it sounds as though this event has finished the S & R Show for ever, all the support staff have been advised to find other jobs and it looks as though Roy will be some time in recovery. I don't think anyone can be blamed for this, least of all the tiger, S & R are lucky to have been able to present their unique show for so long without such an incident. A sad day for all.

I thought I heard that the Tiger which caused the damage was being used in its first show which must always carry a risk.
I was also amazed to hear that there were over 250 people involved in staging the show.
Hope he recovers.

To make things worse, the poor guy suffered a stroke during surgery.
It's not certain that he'll survive this.

Lets hope and pray....

It seems that the tiger was actually defending Roy Horn. While pulling the tiger away from a member of the audience who was trying to stroke it under the chin, he tripped. As he was close to the audience at that point the tiger leapt towards him to apparantly try to shield him. Security staff thought he has being attacked and attemtped to fend the tiger off...the tiger then grabbed Roy by the "scruff" of the neck to try to move him away from the "danger" that the tiger perceived he was in. Unfortunately Roy doesn't have a "scruff" which caused the injuries....so says Seigfried and the tigers trainers anyway.

According to this story (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/ ... 6814.shtml) the tiger was a 7 year old male. I gues it will be a while before all the facts are known but there seems to be a lot of misinformation flying around about the kind of treatment and operations Roy's undergone in recent days.
