Signed cards make great spectator souvenirs. I can understand your point about killing decks off, but I think the idea of stickers, wipe-clean and so on and so forth actually defeats the point...
YOUR SPECTATOR IS INDELIBLY MARKING THE CARD
And when you give an involved card away as a souvenir, it dispels all myths about there being gimmicked cards in play.
During torn and restored, paperclipped and other 'card defacing' effects, your decks do get depleted of their 52 cards. But, like Bananafish says, just keep some donor decks.
For the benefit of the audience, sacrificing cards is something that gives credibility. And at just £2 a deck, it's far cheaper than a stock of labels or wipe-clean pens.
Chuck a couple of quid away now and then - it's worth it!
