Object Manipulation.

Postby BrianO » Dec 4th, '12, 17:40

Hey Everyone,

I have been reading articles on this site for the last few weeks and though I should say hello.

A bit about me... I am a juggler at heart... Mainly contact juggling but do fire spinning a regular toss juggling. Basically the style I seem to be attracted to is the object manipulation stuff...Coin magic is what initially peeked my interest but I seem now to be more drawn towards cards. I am enjoying the learning process in both and find it a big contrast to what I already do.

The circus community is a very open community so any meets and conventions every shares very openly and skill shares are done in person this is probably why there are very few books available for juggling as it traditionally is not how the knowledge was shared...siteswap excluded ;) I am enjoying the fact that I can learn from a book. It is very relaxing and at my own pace.

As I do walk around performances with contact juggling I hope to one day add some card or coin magic to my act. which leads to my only question...

how did you know you were ready for public consumption???

Hi BrianO, are you the same BrianO as on dot org?
Anyway, welcome to this little part of t'internet.
I've been doing shows in public for a short while and I still don't know if I'm ready for public consumption
I found that the "graduation" at the magic course I did where we performed for friends/family and fellow magicians and were rated as to whether we had passed or not was really useful. It's great to learn alone but there is a lot to be said for swapping tips amongst peers.
If you are who I think you are we may bump into each other again at a juggling con at some point and we could natter about it then!

@ Soveda - Yip this is the same BrianO... I met you at BOB at the start of the year if I'm not mistaken. My next outing will be the spinning@ christmas party on the 15th... it should be fun. I think there should be some good acts at it. Keith M is doing a club routine!!! :D

@Lawrence - Based up in bonnie Scotland (EDinburrrrrrr!!!). I'm going to presume there is a few jugglers on this forum then. I only know about 2 people up here that do any sort of magic. Any representation on here from the Scottish Capital?
