am sorry but I feel like your patronizing me. you make me feel that because am a hobbyist that I don't know anything. the word hobbyist does not have any reflection on my skill and knowledge but that doesn't mean I know every aspect of magic but neither do you or anyone else. I asked for advice not to be belittled.

Zombie is a great effect but I hate it because magicians don't seem to know when to end the effect. Also a good zombie routine takes practice. It is easy to do, really hard to make it look good.
You may want to look at some dove productions, like Doves from silks, not overly expensive and keep in mind just because it says dove production, doesn't mean you have to produce a dove. Ask the dealer you are buying it from if objects other than a dove can work.
And the investment in Tarbell is excellent advice, but it is a tomb that you have to dig through. But as Dale said...it is all there.

Keeping an umbrella on your person for a whole show sounds like it may be restrictive, it may be best to look at loading the umbrella prior to producing it, if possible.
