Mental Magic Week

Postby Renato » Nov 11th, '05, 16:59

Any thoughts? Nothing seems to have been said on this as of yet so I thought I'd start a topic on it.

Personally, I found it a bit wishy-washy. First off, it wasn't so much a week, more three days - that's less than the good ol' standard seven-day weeks I'm used to. If I'm correct it was Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. And I think one of those shows was repeated as part of the run.

Hmm...

Some bits were good though - the 7 Stupidest things... was funny, not very magic but good for a laugh, then there was Mindfreak and Barry and Stuart in 'When Magic Tricks Go Wrong' - I didn't like some of the ideas about magicians it put out, didn't like the attitudes that it promoted about it being funny to laugh at magicians and wanting them to fail, but it was still entertaining. I just wish that these shows would start delivering more MAGIC!

Mental Magic Week rating?

In parts, WEAK, however good at times.

I'm surprised that everyone has ignored Rajan and his lot. They have a series starting next Tuesday. I know it's not magic and maybe it's my age, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of Hypnogirl. Fwoar! in other words.

I caught a ad for the hypno that's on next week and the clip look as though it was much along the lines of the bits that they did on Dirty Tricks (e.g. getting late teens & early 20's to act the fool in a wine bar somewhere).

I caught Cris Angel (think that's his name) for the first time and wasn't overly impressed. More to do with his style than his magic.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

There was a mental magic week?

All I saw was the 7 stupid things to escape from (which by the way he only got out of 1, is this the countries, perhaps the worlds worst escapologist?) I did check the listings for more but couldn't see anything, guess I missed it.

This Friday is looking good with a whole evening dedicated to Magic, including the Jesus Magic thing.....bet that won't annoy any religious groups...much.
