From the blog:

As you may know, I’m writing the new stage show, Svengali: the long and short of it is that we rehearse next January/Feb for the tour that starts in March.

Oh how I chuckled, seems his little injokes aren't restricted to stage and screen.

Oh dear...

By attending this event you agree that you have sought the services provided of your own accord and understand that it is a holistic experiment and experience. The medium/therapist/clairvoyant may give you information that could bring about a positive change in your life, but any changes that you make are your personal and legal responsibility.

That stuff about a holistic experiment and a medium/therapist thing does sound a bit odd. That is the sort of thing psychics say at a psychic fair. It doesn't seem to fit Derren Brown from the little I know of him. I wonder if it was put there as a mistake and really meant to advertise someone else?

I don't understand it at all.

Probably the theatres marketing people not understanding what Derren does and thinking he's a medium or psychic, so they used a standard disclaimer for that type of act.

Then it may be for legal reasons. However, it will attract the wrong type of people to the show and discourage the right ones. Anyway, serves them right for calling it a "Svengali" tour. I have a vague suspicion as to how that came about.

Probably to protect them from being sued.

I think they could come up with a more suitable disclaimer emphasising the show is for entertainment only and no supernatural or psychic powers are involved.

I don't think they care enough to be honest. It's probably just another show playing through to them.

I thought the name was very appropriate considering it's origin and meaning... unless I missed something?
